AUs: Fics which take the characters from the books, and stick them in another reality, change details from the canon, and just basically don't mesh with what Rowling's writing.

As someone (pointedly eyes Dee) pointed out, all fanfiction is techinically AU, but these are they obviously AU. As in, the time-frame they occur in have already been covered in the books, and what the fics say happened, didn't. Or, they deviate so much from what's likely to happen, that they must've happend in another timeline.
