[case a] The Next Generation

     After the events leading up to the battle and final defeat of Sephiroth, the story catapults five hundred years into the future to offer a glimpse of the planet reclaming its domain. Nanaki, now an elder, is shown racing the planes of Midgar with three young cubs behind him.

     The question then arises: just how did this younger generation come about?

     Little is known of Nanaki or his race of lion-esque beasts, but it is alluded to that he may be one of, if not *the* last of his race. The appearance of these new cubs suggests that either Nanaki eventually stumbled across another of his kind, that some hand was loaned by technology, or that Nanaki's kind (or at least Nanaki himself, perhaps as a result of Hojo's experimentation) holds the potential to reproduce asexually.
